If you've spent any time in the company of a good road trip playlist, there's a decent chance Houndmouth has already found their way into your speakers. The Indiana-born indie rock band has announced a North American tour that will bring them to D.C.'s The Anthem on Friday, August 7, 2026, with Rayland Baxter opening.

Formed in 2011, Houndmouth built their following over the course of several albums that blend roots-rock, Americana, and indie pop. The band's sound is built on road-tested grooves and close harmonies, with a catalog that spans from their 2013 debut From the Hills Below the City through Lordy, due July 10 via Dualtone Records. Their 2015 single "Sedona" remains their most widely recognized track, and songs like "McKenzie," "Darlin'," "My Cousin Greg," and "Miracle Mile" have become staples of their live sets.

Lordy marks the band's first album in five years and was produced by Brad Cook, who also helmed 2021's Good For You. The record features guest contributions from Iron & Wine's Sam Beam, MJ Lenderman, and Phil Cook, and was previewed with two singles, "Tiger Blood" and the title track "Lordy."

Frontman Matt Myers wrote most of the record at home, taking a notably instinct-driven approach to the sessions, recording one-take acoustic performances before building them into something larger with the help of collaborators. According to a Dualtone press release,

"Lordy takes a stripped-back approach to Houndmouth's ever-evolving sound. It's an album about surviving, rebuilding, accepting, and thriving once more."

The accompanying tour kicks off with two intimate shows at Pine Creek Lodge and includes a D.C. date at The Anthem on August 7, with the fall stretch extending into Canada for dates in Montreal, Ottawa, and Toronto in September. With Lordy dropping just weeks before the D.C. show, the tour offers a rare chance to hear new material straight from the source.
